Welcome to Wings of Hope Real Life Stories!

We want to start this page off the best way - giving God the glory for the wonderful things He has done! The following posts are just a sampling of the hundreds of pages of letters from the Wings of Hope residents and their families - pages recounting the processes of God's wonderful hand of deliverance in bringing the women "from beauty to ashes." (See Isaiah 61:3).
Please be sure to check back from time to time as we continue to add to these testimonies. And do remember to use our Contact Us page to send your prayer requests or to receive more information about Wings of Hope Prison Ministry. God bless you!

Crack Has Put Me Through Hell

I left home at 13, had my first drink at 14. At 20, I started dancing in strip joints and doing drugs like acid, cocaine, and speed, and continued on drugs regularly since 1975. I was introduced to crack about 15 years ago and did it on and off until I was on it on a daily basis the past 3 years.
I'd move across town to get away from people, places, things. That didn't work. I moved to Texas to get away, but when I'd come back to visit, the first thing I'd do was use. Crack has put me through hell. I wrecked my Cadillac, lost all my jewelry, put up my TV and VCR for a piece - sold all my possessions except my clothes. Then I was homeless.
I was sentenced to AADP for 3 years after almost killing myself in a head-on collision (I was high). I got violated 7 times on AADP and went to jail for 7 weeks. The courts gave me an utlimatum....
It took Wings of Hope and Community Corrections and jail to change my whole outlook in life. I've gotten closer to God, and I have my grandkids every weekend. My son sees me every week and I've grown closer to my daughter. Today I am a better mother, grandmother, and a better person. - Margaret

Rhonda's Testimony

When I came to Wings of Hope, I had only the clothes on my back. I had lost all hope of having a normal life for me. I was an addict, abused mentally, physically. I grew up in a dysfunctional home. I ran from everything that hurt and ended up on the streets at age 16.
Today, God has healed me inside and out. I've asked His forgiveness, I've been forgiven, and I trust Him with all my heart and soul!
Today I have my own home. I am active in my community to give back what was so freely given to me. Praise is to God!!! -Rhonda

Hello, My Name is Joyce...

I'm 37 years old, and currently I'm a resident here at Wings of Hope...I would like to first say that I'm a redeemed addict today who suffered through 18 long years of a crack addiction. I've lived a life coming up sexually abused.I've been to prison 5 times.
I'm finally able to see the woman that I was chosen to be, and that is of God. The Wings of Hope and its leadership has taught me that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." I've also learned that the Lord will "never leave me nor farsake me."
This last time in prison I served 2 years and successfully completed home detention of 6 months as welll as my program here at Wings of Hope. I am so grateful to have been one of the chosen women to live here. I've been in other programs, but none compares to this! - Joyce
