dental, educational, emotional and spiritual issues are addressed.
We work also
to restore families. Children come for the weekend, and they attend church with
their mothers on Sunday. (Many of the children have been in foster care.) 100%
of the children have been returned to their mothers upon the mother's completion
of the residency program.
Friday evening is the only free time the ladies have during their stay. Free time
is usually spent visiting with family, watching movies, baking or
just relaxing.
Many of the women are sentenced through Reentry Court, Drug Court, Probation or
Parole. Most have requirements in those programs in addition to this one. Also,
they are required to work. Restitution can be very high, and though there is no
charge for them to come to Wings of Hope Prison Ministry, the women are encouraged to
contribute something towards their living expenses as they are able.
We become a family, and the women become support to each other as they begin their
newly changed lives.
We laugh, cry and learn together; we share chores, cooking, cleaning; and we have
a home...a home the Lord provides. The ladies come with high hopes in the Lord
and...the Lord's people.
